Meet the Inspiration

In 1986, Beverley Bass became the first female captain to fly for American Airlines. Her career in commercial aviation began with difficulty. Beverley has said, "I was told there couldn't be a female pilot flying executives around because what would the wives think".

Beverley was flying from Paris to Dallas on a 777 on September 11th, 2001. Her flight was diverted to Gander, Newfoundland. Her experience in Gander in the days following the attacks are portrayed in the Broadway Musical "Come From Away".

She also co-founded the International Society of Women Airline Pilots, which is a program designed to provide career support and mentorship to aspiring pilots.
